Claymation Animation Evaluation

The process of Claymation Animation is quite long but simple and can be fun and entertaining. First you must get a blob of clay big enough to create a character then you must mould the piece of clay into the shape of your character. We used 'Morph' as an example to create our characters, which is just basically a plain man like shape. Then we used iStopMotion on our computer, so we could take pictures of each movement of our character easily. After finishing the production of your Claymation Animation you can edit it in Final Cut Pro where you can ad audio and text to your project.
The biggest strength of using Clay Animation is that it is very simple to create your clay character, also the filming process can be fast if you concentrate on what you are doing. I think claymation is like Cut-Out animation, because you have to move the characters bit by bit. Another benefit of claymation animation is that you can turn the character around and film it standing up whereas you are unable to do that with Cut-Out animation because it is a 3D object, and Cut-Out is 2D.
I found that the limitations of Claymation Animation were the movement of the character, sometimes it was hard to move the characters arms and legs to make it look like it was walking. Also the movement of the mouth can be quite difficult as it is rather small. i also found it hard to find a good angle to film the project as we didn't have props to create a good setting.
Claymation Animation is harder to move the characters than it is in Cut-Out animation, and it is also harder to find a good angle to shoot from. However i think that Claymation is a more funner process as we get to make whatever we like with the clay and with Cut-Out Animation I feel our creative side is quite limited with what characters we want to make because we might not have the images to create these characters.
I found the process of Claymation Animation very fun and creative, i enjoyed this project very much.
