Cut Out Animation Evaluation

Cut out animation is when you use images from magazine's, newspapers or your own photo's and drawings  to create a story. You can cut the images in certain places which can make them look like they're talking and moving around.

Strengths of cut out animation are that it is very quick and simple to create a short stop motion film. Using a Tripod and a small web cam camera as it is very easy to handle and is very still so we don't have to keep adjusting it. The stop motion program on Apple Mac's makes it easier to take the still images of the cut outs accurately. Another strength is that it is a fun process as you can create all sorts of different stories and characters.

Weaknesses of cut out animation are that it's very limited in the movements you can use, you can't turn your character to walk away, you have to take your time to put cuts in the joints of the cut outs so they can move their arms etc. Also finding the images you're going to use takes a long time as does the process of filming the animation.
