Evaluation on my Advert.

For this unit we were asked to go into groups of two to three. I was put in a group with two boys, we came to the decision that we would make an advert that appeal to both genders. We eventually decided on the product ‘Powerade’ we came up with a concept that involved both genders so we created a story where a man a woman and another man are all out doing some sort of sporty activity, at first none of the three are motivated to put effort in the activity they’re doing, then somebody hand each of them a bottle of ‘Powerade’ after they’ve drunk some of the ‘Powerade’ all three of the characters become motivated and have the energy to do the sporty activities which they weren’t motivated to do in the beginning. The things I felt went well in the advert were the locations, we had three different locations in our advert one is a gym another is a park with a path where you can jog and the other is a park with a large green area. Another thing that I think went well are the activities we chose to show in our advert, they were all different types of sports we chose to do somebody doing weights in the gym, somebody to be going for a jog in the park and somebody else to be playing football in the park with some friends. I think the angles and shots we used worked well too we had a range of different shots. Another thing I believe went well is the music we chose I think that it went well with the video and all the movement are on beat with the music. The thing’s that pleased me about working on my advert are the script I think it the story was all thought out well and the concept is clear to the audience watching. Also the locations that were chosen were easy to work with and easy to find. Working in a team I enjoyed sometimes. The things that pleased me about my final advert were the split screen that we used I think it was very interesting to see when the advert was complete, I am pleased about the shots we used and how they all came together to form a clear narrative. I am also proud of the music and how the video goes with the beat of the song. I am particularly pleased with the end logo and the slogan I think that the slogan is catchy and the way the logo comes up at the end is very creative and different. This advert is similar to the professional advert of the same product because they both show that the products target audience is people who enjoy and play sports regularly. A difference would be that our advert actually had a narrative and the professional adverts I have seen by the company usually don’t have a narrative. The persuasive techniques that were used were showing what the product actually does.
I think our advert will be a successful in selling the product because it is successful in showing what the product does and in appealing to the target market.
The target audience of the product we chose is, people from the age of sixteen to the age of twenty-nine, who play and enjoy any type of sport, this product is targeted to people of all ethnicities and both genders.
We received a lot of positive feedback on our advert, people said that it was successful in targeting our target market and that the concept we came up with was very clear and not hard to follow. It was also said that the editing was done very well and that our advert gave of an energetic vibe, which is the vibe we were going for. I was very happy with the positive feedback because it was all things I agreed with.
The aspects of our advert that I was not happy with were, the quality of the video itself we did not use a high definition camera whereas other people in our class did, we didn’t know that the camera’s we were using were not as good quality as the other cameras. Also I feel that if we picked a product that I used more often I would of found it a lot more fun to film.
The things I would do differently next time would be to use the high quality camera’s so that my video will look more professional and also pick a product that I can maybe relate to and that I use quite frequently.

Evaluation of Shot Sequence.

In this unit we were looking at shot sequences. We were asked to think of a story of which we could film, we needed to have ten shots or more which consisted of different angles. The story I first thought of was a girl walking into a room and she gets a phone call from a mysterious person, however I ended up changing it because the room I wanted to use was unavailable at the time. I then thought of a story where a girl goes to meet her boyfriend she sits down next to him then he tells her he has to go to the toilet, he leaves his phone on the table then the phone begins to ring. The girl picks the phone up as the boy isn’t there to answer, on the other end of the line there is another girl asking for the boy. You don’t hear the other girl but the main girl is getting frustrated that this other woman is calling her boyfriends phone. When the boy comes back she confronts him and asks him who this girl that called the phone is, he denies knowing anything about another girl. The girl gets frustrated then walks away in a huff. Finally the boy calls back the other woman to confirm that he is being unfaithful. I found the filming to be a fun task, I also enjoyed the editing of the footage.
I think there are many strengths in my video, the story line for a start I think is very entertaining when people watched it they laughed and said that they enjoyed it.  The camera work is also very steady, although the quality of the camera could of been a bit better. One big weakness in my video is the sound, when the characters are talking at first you are unable to hear them clearly. The thing i would do differently next time would be, to get a better quality camera I was unaware about the other camera’s available so then I just used the not so good ones. Another thing I would do differently would be to make the sound more clear I would use a microphone to make it better for people to hear the characters talking.

Evaluation on my Prezi.

We first started this unit by learning and researching about Mind Maps and wrote a summary about them. I got my information from www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newISS_01.htm I then went to on to another site to choose a career to do a mind map on www.skillset.org/careers/case_studies  i decided to choose Performers.
When doing my research I found a lot of information about being a Performer and how they feel about the job they do, I found out about the hours in which they work, their likes and dislikes about performing, how to begin a career in Performing and whether it is necessary to attend a drama college.
Putting my research down on my mind map I felt was very easy and more practical than writing it down in a list or an essay.  When presenting my presentation I noticed I hadn’t put in any information that could come across as unusual about the career that I had chosen to talk about. However there was a lot of information on the mind map even thought it wasn’t unusual information.
I thought my presentation was effective in giving out information. My partner said I “had good communication, it was all relevant, and very interesting information and she frequently checked response from presenter to listener.” My partner also said my weak points were “limited eye contact and no unusual information.” If I was given the chance to re-do my presentation I would add more unusual information and improve my eye contact with the audience. Overall i found the task very interesting and I think I completed it well.

Summery of Key Facts - Mind Maps.

Mind Maps are used for revising a subject or for brainstorming an idea. They help you “learn more effectivley” and also can help improve the wa you stroe information. Using mid maps helps you identify and understand a subject moreeasily. They help you memorise notes in a more effevtive way than writing a list.
Mind Maps help you recall information easier because they are formatted in a way our minds find it easier to remember things, and are quick to reveiw and update. Mind maps are a better way of taking notes, they usually use up to one side of paper and when mre information is found you can easily add it to the mind map.
people sometimes use colours and images when creating their mind maps to make it more easy to remember. There are many uses for mind maps, you can use them for;

Introduction to TV Advertising.

Explain what TV advertising is:
TV Advertising is when a company makes a product and try's to persuade their audience in buying the product. The company will make an advert and out it on the television, this makes people aware that it exists and it makes them feel like they need/want it.

Three similar characteristics in TV advertising:
They are ill trying to persuade their audience in buying the product that's being advertised.
All TV advertisements have a slogan and/or a logo.
Most of them are usually under a minute long.

History of TV Advertising.
How many adverts is it estimated that the average american consumes every day?
The average american consumes over 3000 averts per day.

Where do you see adverts?
Adverts are seen near enough everywhere, you see them on the bus, on television, on the floors in shopping centre's, on the shelves in the shops, on the side of telephone boxes, on the occasional blimp, on the packaging of the products you have in your house and on billboard's.

What is the second most uttered word in the world?
The second most spoken word in the world is 'coca-cola'

Sometimes advertisers use a character or a personality to help see a product, why is this successful?
There is usually a character or a personality on an advert because the audience is more able to connect with the character or personality than the product, they might want to be like the character/personality so they buy the product to be a little closer to them, that's why it's so successful.

Does advertising always work? Give an example.
Advertising does not always work, if the product isn't good enough for people, for example if it does not look appealing then the audience of the advert won't buy it. An example of this is the 'Ford' car 'Edsel' this car wasn't appealing to the audience so it did not sell well.

A TV advertisement that stands out.
An advert that stood out for me is the "Walls" Sausage Roll advert. In this advert a man is at a petrol station and buy's himself a 'Walls" sausage roll, he is so overcome with joy he gives the garage lady an engagement ring box, the lady opens the box to find a little dog with a keyboard sitting there. The dog then begins to do a little rap thanking the lady for giving the man the sausage roll.
This advert is a memorable one because the little dog is really cute and the fact that he is rapping is really funny, and the lyrics are rather catchy and they get stuck in your head.

Legal and Ethical

What does ‘copyright,’ mean?Copyright means when a company or an individual person puts a legal right on something they have created this enables them to stop another company or another person claiming and selling that product as their own.
Give three examples of different things which you might include in your video and could be subject to copyright:
In my video I used two music video clips one was Taylor Swift – Love Story and the other was Katy Perry – Teenage Dream.
I also used music in my video, Taylor Swift – The Story of Us
Another thing I used was Images from Google of various things.

Review Report.

We began the unit by creating a blog on “Blogger” then we evaluated four different types of viral marketing and uploaded them onto our blog.

On the first week we did an induction to the college and the course, when we set up the blog I found it easy because I had done it already before in my AS Media class. We did a glossary of terms where we had to give the definition of some word. I did find that a bit difficult because I didn’t know where to look but then I got the hag of It and completed the task. Evaluating the four viral marketing videos was good, it wasn’t boring and was easy to do.

On the second week we had to make a plan for our video by the end of the week, we also had to learn how to use the new equipment, which I found to be quite fun it was something new and was really enjoyable, filming the Five Shot Rule was really enjoyable I loved filming because I think I was really good at it. When editing my Five Shot Rule I loved learning how to use the Final Cut Program, It wasn’t difficult at all and was really entertaining.

On the third week we were supposed to begin and complete filming, I began the filming but was unable to complete it due to the people who were supposed to be in it were unable to meet me. So I reviewed my targets for the week and in my spare time I filmed the rest I needed. However what I did manage to film I really enjoyed doing, but I did get a bit stressed about not completing it that week. On the third week we also did mind maps on Video Platforms and Applications, I decided to draw them because I felt it would be easier I completed the mind maps and was happy with them.

On the fourth week I began editing, I found it easy at the beginning but then when I realized some footage had been deleted which made it difficult and I got a bit stressed because the audio was being messed up by the wind. I sorted all of it out though by the end of the week. And I was pleased with the end product.

On the fifth week I was on target as I had completed filming and editing I finished putting everything on my blog that I had to, I began and completed my evaluation of my Video Profile I discussed what I thought was the good aspects, the things I could improve on and what I would do better next time. Overall I enjoyed the Unit it was something new and exciting, and I am really please with my progress.

Evaluation on my Video Profile.

My Video Profile was about me, I discussed what I enjoy to do in my spare time, what genre of music I like and listen to as well as who my favorite artist’s are. I spoke about the programs and movies I watch and also my favorite movies, and I added where my dream place in the world to go is.

I personally am quite proud of my Video Profile I think that it is really good especially for a first time effort. I enjoyed the task very much. I think the best aspects of my Video Profile are; the fact I used other people in my video to describe me I think it is very entertaining for people to get another opinion about how they see me and it is quite funny, people that have watched it have all said thy enjoy the stories that are told and that it was a good idea to get other people to speak about me. Another aspect I am proud of is, the images I put into my video they were all relevant and were inserted at the appropriate time an example of this is when I speak about my family a picture of me and my mum comes on the screen and also when I speak about the places in New York I would like to visit an image comes on the screen as I say each place. I believe I did that very well. Another good aspect of the video is the music that was chosen I think it starts at an appropriate time and I got the right level of sound onto the video so you can hear everyone speaking clearly.

However the aspects of my video on which I could improve on next time are; the background noise when I am in the park it was quite a windy day so therefore you can hear the wind in the background when I am speaking and it is very loud at times, next time I will use the equipment which enables me to block out the noise of the wind and make the audio more clear. Also another thing in which I could improve on next time is being more confident with the camera and have more camera angles in the video, I didn’t do it this time because there was a lack of space in the room where I was filming and the best footage was the ones that were at the same angle and also sadly I lost some of the footage I filmed.
When compared to a commercially produced video my Video Profile wouldn’t be as good, because obviously the quality of the camera would be the same and this was my first time.
Overall I think my Video Profile is very good especially for a first time effort.
